Since 2016, our team has been partnering with Oir Para Vivir to provide hearing healthcare in the Dominican Republic.
Hear For A Purpose - Hear For Good
The Beginning
Hear For A Purpose began by visiting schools for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic. In our first year, we fit only 38 hearing aids. Since then, Hear For A Purpose has helped Oir Para Vivir to deliver 3,346 hearing aids and help 1,554 people!
A Beautiful Partnership
In 2022, Hear For A Purpose worked with multiple partners to donate a full audiologic suite, with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment. Oir Para Vivir is now able to provide audiologic services year-round.
A Newborn Hearing Program
During our 2025 mission, Hear For A Purpose delivered 3 ABR screeners to the hospital in Hato Mayor. Members of Hearing Screening Associates joined us and provided hands-on training for the local physician. Now, over 800 babies born each year in Hato Mayor, will have the opportunity to be screened for hearing loss.
